But I make an exception for the SS, if for no other reason than wearing a hat sometimes leads the wearer to act or speak like the original type of guy who would have worn it. I have no desire at all to face someone who thinks it's OK to act like a member of Totenkopf. My grandmother's family in Czechoslovakia disappeared at their hands 75 years ago.

So I don not fully agree that "a hat is a hat", but I'm not about to impose my values on others. As I said, it's a personal thing.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05091296131481416326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2410063836503200299.post-30056391124115790872019-08-18T03:07:23.809-07:002019-08-18T03:07:23.809-07:00Chris, Is it appropriate to play as the Germans or...Chris, Is it appropriate to play as the Germans or Japanese? The Mongols or even Romans on their conquests?
A hat is a hat. It may, to some, represent their allegiance or politics but it is within a game environment not a rally.Khusruhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03512587253133355625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2410063836503200299.post-90970828505201854232019-08-18T02:06:33.466-07:002019-08-18T02:06:33.466-07:00Hat wearing is entirely optional, but between us w...Hat wearing is entirely optional, but between us we do seem to have quite a collection. Other members of the club view this as an eccentricity confined to our little Band of Brothers, particularly when we break out the tricornes.Martin Rapierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16788664847205341619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2410063836503200299.post-17869102547098130672019-08-17T15:54:17.344-07:002019-08-17T15:54:17.344-07:00I don't recall ever taking part in a game wher...I don't recall ever taking part in a game where hats were worn. In general I wouldn't object, except for certain headwear. A Confederate hat, for example, would bother me a bit because of the cause it represents, but I could live with it. But I absolutely would not ever--ever--wear a WWII S.S. hat, cap, or helmet.

Rather than cause a fuss in such situations, though, I would not want to damage other players' enjoyment. I would either endeavor to play on the opposite side, or just not take part at all. A personal idiosyncrasy, I suppose.

Best regards,

ChrisChrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05091296131481416326noreply@blogger.com
