I needed a third Horch field car for my DAK troops, and as I was putting an order in to Battlefield 3D anyway, I got one of theirs. My other ones are all Peter Pig, but I wasn't a fan of the last batch who had a load of moulded passengers inside. I'd like some passengers, but not for the vehicle to be completely rammed.
Anyway, here is a Battlefield 3D resin Horch. An exquisite model, with lovely fine detail. beautiful proportions etc. Joy of joys, it also comes with an integral printed driver figure too. Why on earth can't other manufacturers do that, it isn't hard.
It is a single piece print, so no assembly required and you can see the finely printed windscreen surround. I thought there were some striations on the top of the bonnet but of course they are air vents for the engine. On the Peter Pig ones they are just cast as solid metal blocks.
I added a couple of PP seated German infantrymen, which is plenty of passengers. You can see the printed driver is holding the nicely printed steering wheel. So much easier than trying to jam an oversized figure in by lopping bits off it.
As it was for DAK, I did this one in desert sand. VJ Dark Sand base, inkwash then VJ Iraqi Sand over the top and a light drybrush to finish off. I vaguely thought about doing some camo but left it plain in the end. I'm really pleased with that, a lovely model, even if they aren't the cheapest on the market.
